Carol Concert |
Our first Carol Concert in St Machar's Cathedral, Aberdeen in 2006 was so well received that we were asked to perform there again in 2007. Once again, the concert proved so popular that we have decided to make a performance in st Machar's a regular part of our programme. This not only allows many more people to enjoy the HHCOS Carol Concerts, but it enable us to perform different types of Christmas music. The wonderful acoustic of St Machar's Cathedral is perfect for larger choirs and beautiful solo singing. The much-loved Carol Concerts in the Chapel were, as ever, quickly sold out. Altogether, we were involved in seven carol performances, including some private functions and corporate events. The Society is happy to consider requests for further performances so if your company is looking for special entertainment at a Christmas event, please let our Secretary know. Look out for another enchanting programme of Carols this year. |
Bach at Haddo |
After two years performing at the Music Hall in Aberdeen, HHCOS, by popular demand, return to the Hall at Haddo House to perform J S Bach's Magnificat in D major [BWV 243) and his Cantata no. 21 [BWV 21). The Aberdeen Sinfonietta , the student soloists and the HHCOS chorus will be directed by Ben Parry, making a welcome return to us [and to Scotland) after a few years break in London. |
Opera 2009 |
Discussions are underway as to the feasibility of doing a major production of Tchaikovsky's beautiful and melodic opera Eugene Onegin in April 2009. This will feature fully professional soloists and even some dancers from Scottish Ballet! |

Developments at Haddo. |
Haddo is such a wonderful place, and the National Trust for Scotland and Aberdeenshire Council, who manage the House and the Country Park respectively, are working hard to maintain and develop the facilities for their customers - including HHCOS. Like us, they need the help of people who have a particular interest in Haddo to help support their work. To this end, they intend to set up a Friends group which will be known as 'Friends of Haddo House and CountryPar k'. We are delighted that this step is being taken as we believe that Haddoshould be enjoyed for everything it has to offer by as many people as possible. Ho wever, we just wanted to you know that there is now another Friendsgroup thatm ight be referred to as 'Friendsof Haddo' as our Friends organization often is, and toempha size that they are two different groups: 'Friends of HH&CP' and 'Friends ofHH COS'.
