NEW HUT FOR OLD? YOUTH HUT NEWS
You can be forgiven for thinking that a new Hut has appeared in the grounds of Tarves primary school. Considerably better looking than the old portacabin that has served as the youth centre for the village since 1998.
The new looking wooden cabin is really just the old one in disguise.
The youth Hut Project ( formerly known as The Zone 98) have raised funds and received grants from Aberdeenshire Council, Oldmeldrum and Ellon Rotary clubs in order to put a new cladding of wood to improve and insulate the building . It makes the building considerably more usable in colder times.
Tarves Community Council this week’s expressed thanks to all those involved in completing the project. The idea came from a previously reclad portacabin that is Methlick community garden Project. “That work will extend the life and increase usage of the existing portacabin at much less cost than a possible replacement” said local councillor Paul Johnston. ” the hut has been a valuable resource for young people and it is good to see it have this new lease of life”
