FOUR local farmers who had their wind turbine project knocked back by Aberdeenshire Council are set to appeal to the Scottish Government’s planning reporter.
The farmers – Allan Dent of Douglashead, Sandy and Roy Henderson of Little Ythsie, Neil Davidson of Milton Ardlethen and Stuart Davidson and family of Knockothie Farms at Upper Ardlethen – had originally made proposals for four turbines between Ellon and Tarves which were knocked back.
Councillors rejected the Yowlie Energy scheme on the grounds that the turbines would have an unacceptable impact on the Prop of Ythsie and surrounding area. There had also been objections from RAF Buchan.
Spokesman Alan Dent told the Times that the turbines were a necessary element of farm diversification in the area.
