 Jequirity Bean Bracelets

A bracelet made of Jequirity Beans (Peas) has been on sale from outlets across the UK including the Eden Project in Cornwall and there is a health issue in relation to the bean if chewed.  There is no information to suggest that this is on sale across Aberdeenshire but these could have been purchased while on holiday in other parts of the UK (e.g. Oxfam have sold these in the past).

The bean contains a toxin called abrin, which can cause vomiting, diarrhoea and in extreme cases it may be fatal.  Ensure thorough hand washing after handling and if you have one of these bracelets you should return it to the retailer for a refund.  Further information

Jewellery Making for Beginners

at Meldrum Academy

for 4 weeks (Wed. 25 April – Wed.17 May)

7pm till 9pm

Aimed at those with little or no experience in making jewellery, this course will cover a variety of basic techniques including using tiger tail with crimp beads, making earrings, using eyepins and headpins, and simple chain maille.

£29.00 full price, £16.00 concession.
