Come along and learn the nutrition of wild and foraged foods. An interesting and fun day learning what nutrients are in foraged plants, led by Eleanor Brown and Natasha Lloyd BSc NIMH AOF. Eleanor has many years experience of foraging from the local area and creating interesting and tasty condiments from the plants she finds. Natasha is a Medical Herbalist and member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and a member of the Association of Foragers. She has many years experience of foraging and making medicine from the wild.

The day will be split into two sessions with a tasty herb lunch in between. The first session will be learning and watching some practical demonstrations. The second half will be a herb walk around Pitmedden’s excellent Herb Garden and the woods surrounding the Garden.

ELLON COMMUNITY CINEMA – 13 AUG 2017 VICTORIA HALL

The Ellon community cinema is on in the Victoria Hall, Ellon on 13 August. Cars 3 for the kids amongst us and the BlockBuster Dunkirk. Enjoy a different cinema experience and support the community hall in Ellon.

Oldmeldrum Pleasure Park,

The highlight of the year is, of course, our own Garioch Vintage & Veteran Rally,
held in the pleasure Park in Oldmeldrum. This always takes place on the
1st Sunday in August. We don’t charge an entry fee for entrants or spectators.
There aren’t many Clubs who can say that.
In 2016 we had 351 entries on the field.

TREOL AND FOLK BAND NORTH PLAY AT TARVES MELVIN HALL AS PART OF THE INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL

The Tarves Heritage project this year has again organised to host Aberdeen International Youth Festival, with a concert locally. The Melvin hall welcomed, TREOL from Edinburgh and FOLK BAND NORTH from Norway. Both traditional music bands made up of young performers in the festival played on Wednesday August 2nd to a delighted audience.

TARVES FLOWER SHOW – 2017 – SAT 12 AUGUST

The Tarves Flower Show  is Saturday 12 August.  Entries are very welcome to all the classes.  Remember this is called a flower show but is for handicrafts, baking and produce as well as flowers and vegetables and fruit. Please get a schedule from the committee. shop or online at:

All the competition classes and instructions are there.  Look forward to your entries in the morning. The judging takes place late morning and lunchtime.  The doors open at 2pm and the prizes awarded at 2:15pm
