THE HADDO SNOW BALL 2017 – SAT 4th FEB

The Ball will be held on the 4th of February 2017, from seven until midnight, in the Canadian Hall at Haddo House.  Dress formal.  Dancing will be to the music of Frank Thomson and his Band. There will be the usual high quality buffet, served at 7.30 prompt. 

We are trialling online booking for the first time.  The details of how to book are below, the preferred payment method is PayPal.  You do not need a PayPal account to use the service, any Visa or Mastercard will do. There will be the option for a BACS transfer if required, cheques are also acceptable.

We will be holding two practice evenings in the Melvin Hall in Tarves if you wish to brush up on the set dances. There will also be a caller at the Ball.  The practice evenings will be on the 13th and 27th of January at 7.30 for 7.45. The cost will be £5.00 per person and all are welcome. Would you like to be involved in creating an art work in the form of a wall hanging/banner depicting images of Tarves and the parish, past and present?

Smailholm Village hall contribution to the great tapestry of Scotland project in 2013

This is a unique community project inclusive of all ages, abilities and groups portraying the story of Tarves. Images can be stylised, realistic, abstract, 3D and tactile in a variety of textiles and wool, stitchcraft, appliqué and patchwork. This will be an exciting project to create a lasting illustration of our community. Interested?

Please come to a meeting at the Heritage Centre, The Square with your ideas on Wednesday 11 January from 1.30 – 3pm or on Sunday 15 January from 2.00-3.30pm.

THE TARVES BURNS SUPPER 2017 – FRIDAY 20th JAN

Join us on Friday 20th January for our Traditional Burns Supper in the Melvin Hall. This is one of our main fundraisers so please support us and celebrate the life of the poet Robert Burns.

Aberdeenshire Waste Services over Christmas and New Year 2016/17

The following outlines the arrangements for collection of household and trade recycling/food waste/refuse and the opening times of the Household Waste and Recycling Centres over the festive period.

  • Collections scheduled for Monday 26th December will now be made on Friday 30th December
  • Collections scheduled for Monday 2nd January will now be made on Friday 6th January
  • Collections scheduled for Tuesday 27th December and Tuesday 3rd January will be made as usual.

All affected properties will receive a postcard with this collection schedule information in the week commencing 12th December.

All Household Waste and Recycling Centres will close at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday 24th December, remain closed on 25th & 26th of December and reopen as normal on Tuesday 27th December. They will also close at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday 31st December, remain closed on 1st and 2nd January and reopen as normal on Tuesday 3rd January.
